When thinking about how to get products photographed for the new worldasone.co website and Shopify store, World As One Vice President and Director of Happiness, Kari Reed, automatically thought of her good friend and professional photographer, Rochelle Green. Having owned her own photography studio for many years, Rochelle now serves as an Assistant Professor and Photography Program Coordinator for Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Upon hearing about the new World As One startup company, mission and brand, Rochelle suggested it would be a perfect learning opportunity for the students in her program. For them to be able to participate in and see the fruits of their labor come to life in the form of an exciting new brand would make for a motivating, real-world, hands-on experience. The exponential growth of ecommerce and the photography necessary to get products posted for internet sales made the public-private partnership especially powerful for the students.

World As One provided examples of all their product offerings (t-shirts, sweatshirts, jewelry and decals) for the students to photograph. Under Rochelle’s leadership, she tasked her students with devising both standardized photo shoots of all the products and “lifestyle” photos with Iowa Central Community College students modeling the apparel and jewelry. The students additionally created and photographed content around campus to serve as banners throughout the worldasone.co website. Lastly, they made videos or “reels” for the brand. World As One found these videos to be particularly entertaining and a fun expression of the student’s personalities! Working in teams of two, they produced content that you will see throughout our website. In addition to the students learning specific techniques associated with shooting photographic content for online display, the team at World As One also reciprocally learned things from the students. It was an incredibly mutually beneficial experience that was both functional and fun. 

The photos you see in this specific section show the behind the scenes of the students and their photography project. We are grateful to Rochelle for her suggestion of partnering, the students for their time, talent, energy and creativity and to Iowa Central Community College for being such a fantastic asset to businesses like ours and to the greater Fort Dodge area. While we at World As One have always known how lucky Fort Dodge is to have an educational opportunity like Iowa Central located right in our community, we didn’t fully realize the depth of learning that goes on at the college (and the importance of providing highly trained individuals to fill jobs in our region), until we saw it firsthand.
